Attention residents of Bourne, specifically Sagamore Beach, Monument Beach, Pocasset and Cataumet:  Do you think this wind turbine issue is 'just a Bournedale' issue?    Click here to view a map drawn up by your Bourne Planning Department that shows the multitude of sites where industrial wind turbines can be sited in our town under the previous bylaw!

Just how GREEN are industrial sized wind turbines?   The magnets contained within the turbines contain a rare-earth metal that leaves foul-smelling, radioactive toxic waste after it is refined and is polluting China on a disastrous scale.  Click here to read more.

Falmouth, in an area just 2 miles south of Cataumet, has three industrial wind turbines which are 100' shorter than those proposed for Bourne.   They are reacting after-the-fact, imposing a one year moratorium on any new industrial wind turbine projects.   Click here for more.    Bourne is proactive, not reactive!!

We salute the efforts of Wareham Residents Opposed to Bog Wind who have a feature story on the cover of this week's Wareham Observer.   Barry Cosgrove has an interesting perspective:  The average home is 19 feet tall.   With a 500 foot turbine next to it, it would be the equivalent of a 6'5" tall man standing next to a 3 inch bottle of eye drops! New Generation Wind LLC has withdrawn their initial application to build an industrial wind farm in Bournedale, only to refile on March 11, 2011.   Our fight is far from over     We need to shift our focus to protecting the newly amended by-law  at Town Meeting in the Fall to ensure that no village in the Town of Bourne will ever have to go through this again!

Did you know...

Industrial wind turbines sited near residential areas and schools are known to cause adverse health effects including:  Stress; Sleep Disturbance; Annoyance; Migraines; Dizziness and many more.   This is already happening to our neighbors in Falmouth,  just 15 miles from the proposed site!

Please don’t let this project happen to our community!

A study from Denmark, which has made a major investment in wind power since 2003, has recommended a worldwide standard safe distance of 1.25 miles between any active industrial wind turbine and residential homes.   In a local survey of the  proposed Bournedale neighborhood site it was determined that there are 394 homes, 102 condominium units, 1 elementary school, 1 scenic campground and 2 motels within a 1.25 mile radius of the proposed wind turbines.
